Other than that, so far my experience with bases has been... less than good, tbh... there is this one spot if you follow the road to the right of sakura tree, a small hill which looks like it was made to be a base location, but in reality raids bug out there, either spawning to the bottom and trying to go up the hill with no success, or spawning on a hill to the south of that and being unable to go down. So... meh... it is safe, but if you want to farm raids - not a great spot.
Another one I tried is that blueish-green hill to the north-east ( https://i.imgur.com/graNwma.png ) and it was slightly better, but a little too narrow, and npc sometimes fall off and you have to bring them back. Raids are also somewhat inconsistent, and the "walls" of the hill itself are kinda unsafe, so they can traverse them relatively easily.
I think I wanna move to the brown area to the left of it next, it seems super-flat and there's a lot of space, but I'm also a little worried that raids will just spawn on the bottom beach near it... we'll see...
Despite what you'd think, I've been raided in the middle of the ocean before.
in all seriousness i just surround my base with acorns to grow trees and put spikes and walls
no enemies ever get through and if they do they do not make it pretty far.
any place is fine but imo i find it better any sandy beaches near the ocean to get water to boil incase you don't got enough wells or rain collectors to keep your villagers hydrated and yourself. You can boil water in a campfire and have a steady steam of water source. Also sharks and fishing. Any enemies that get too close to the ocean bug out or get attacked by sharks lol
