The pig breeding farm is 100% self sufficient, it only needs NPCs to work it, and you will see the numbers go from 00 --> 100. Every 100 points will spawn a pig.
Breeding farm will not produce any offspring. It is just a holding pen for Cows or Sheep, and NPCs working on livestock will produce milk and wool. Mixing and matching animals in the pens will overwrite what you get from it, so you have to have species seperated.
Cows and sheep in breeding pens produce TONS of their respective product. Two cows will completely sustain the food needs of a pretty decently sized village.
