Inventory seems pretty limited, but if you can tame a native, you can make them carry whatever you want. Apparently there's even an item to increase THEIR storage, E-made's ci-en is to believed, though i haven't found it yet.

There's a character in the northwest corner that has a pack upgrade if you trade her a creature from the dark area near the end of the game

you can also carry bodies as extra storage, maxed carry skill allow you to carry up to 4 bodies without movement speed penalty and the brutes can carry up to 10 items or so, i am glad emade+ increased player inventory to 18.
