Achievements are impossible to reach and the people that have them are definitely cheating. Otherwise, game seems fun! A little challenging but nothing you can't overcome. I would do palisades at first but figured out doing spearmen into archers/catapults was really strong.

the most annoying thing about the game is that it follows the general style of for the first few levels you are an untouchable solo all the waves god, and then the difficulty spikes so drastically that you have to have a good understanding of the pros and cons of every unit type to effectively progress without taking damage.

Hint: ONLY upgrade your spearmen and cavalry, in the current state everything else is actually useless.

As you can see from the achievements you can beat it without coming close to any but the boss battles in under 2 hours

that said some work on the unit progression, a limit framerate setting, and either improving or removing the current equipment/monetary system and the game could be a fun time waster

It has been a long time since i dropped a review but this game surely deserves it. It's your classic plant vs zombies tower defense with suprising amount of upgrades for both your hero and your towers, giving the game a nice rpg element. The game feels full of mechanics yet not overwhelming. For a demo it is very funy and I finished it in one go. Wishlisted the full version and definietly will try.

tl;dr Combat gets stale very fast and the game / demo isn't even well polished.

*BIGGEST SIN is having an outro video for the end of your demo that is NOT TIED to your global sound settings. Going into games expecting to have your eardrums destroyed is fairly common; however, finishing a game, especially when it is not abundantly clear that is the last level and auto playing a video at max volume is absolutely not OK*

Pros:
-Fun and slightly more interactive take on the PvZ model of tower defense games
-Solid music to match aesthetics
-Decent level of difficulty for bosses

Cons:
-Terrible pacing for enemy introduction; it is a very bold move to have a unit that can circumnavigate most of your defenses within the few levels
-Equipment and "farming", the RPG element of the game, is really clunky
-Tower variety does not have me hopefully of a final release and the final two towers which might change that are locked despite the levels you obtain them being in the game

Misc:
-Not a fan of the voice acting and would rather not have it if it's going to be that poorly done
-Do not at all understand the decision to make a melee attack / skill set for your "hero" in this game when you are locked to the back row
-Are a lot of these reviews botted? Because reading some of these as of this demos release date it sure feels like it.

Absolutely reeks of ♥♥♥♥♥♥ F2P mobile game. Obnoxious tutorial messages, most bland, uninspired writing you have ever read, snore fest game-play.

Tl;dr: If you haven't played the previous demo version, give the game a go if it excites you. Otherwise, there is not much to see here except for some additional content.

The first thing I'd like to mention is that although there is some additional content in this prologue version of the game, it does not solve the issues that were in the previous prologue, which has a separate page and is named Ajax's Trial. I understand that it is a viable marketing move, but I'd expect a different experience than before rather than just some additional combat that has almost the same gameplay.

Gameplay-wise, Legendary Hoplite reminds me of an old web game called "Warlords," where the player was responsible for sending troops in different lines of attack to beat the opponent. In Legendary Hoplite, however, your troops take place as a defense line defending against the undead hordes. Controlling a main character with additional defense troops is a nice mix, and I like the core idea of the game.

The pacing in the game, I think, was a bit off. The main character is so overpowered, especially in the first few levels that you are practically invincible. I understand that the first few levels teach stuff about the game and unlock various things, but making it almost impossible to lose for an average player further reduces the fun for those who are decent, and even good. The pacing definitely made me lose my interest in the game, and I didn't bother to finish the game for just the sake of it.

The overall gameplay is nice, but I am not a fan of the item system with lots of stats, farming, and randomness. It makes it hard to get into the game, and I'd love a system that has different equipment gameplay-wise rather than just stat and skill-wise. I don't think that the random elements in the game complement the gameplay well. I definitely would prefer a system like in tower defense games where you have lots of viable options both for your characters and towers, but there is no randomness included at all. It feels like a mobile game this way, which I certainly did not like.

I always prioritize playing games with a controller if there is support, but the gamepad support for this game gave me a hard time. I was struggling to navigate around the menus, and even in the game. I believe the game should practice more on user experience regarding its gamepad support, and I think it is not viable at its current stage.

Overall, if you are interested in trying out this game, I'd suggest you wait until the full release and try it then, and be sure to add it to your wishlist to support the developers. However, if you are not that much interested in it and still want to give it a go, this is a cool little demo that you can enjoy for around two hours.

If you like tower defense you will probably enjoy this one. Pretty simple and straightforward, nothing too complicated.

At first glance already could tell that this is mobile game. Anyway i wanted to give it a shot and play for a bit, however that quickly changed when i reached Spider boss level. The fact that this boss spits out spiders like no tomorrow is insane. The problem lies in the actual spiders since they can get pass your units and you as hero must kill those spiders and skip damaging boss plus if that is not enough you have stamina, single attack costs stamina depends on your weapon you have equiped and every ability costs certain number of your stamina and the regen is way to long. Then how on earth you are able to kill the boss if you have to kill spiders which avoid your towers/units and you cant even purely focus on boss because she leaves field for time. Complete bs! Thanks for demo, now i know that i will avoid this game like plague.
