Battlestar Galactica Fans Check Out Diaspora MOD For Freespace 2

Whether you are a fan or the Battlestar Galactica series or looking for intense game-play with a well written story plot, Diaspora [A Free] Mod for Freespace 2 will not let you down. I was on the edge of my seat the entire campaign. It was shocking how professional a fan made mod could turn out; you will feel like you are playing a AAA title. Frespace 2 graphics have been updated, BSG modded ships with cockpits, and a well done story. Oh, and voice acting in a space shooter that doesn't suck; I know, it's a first. The install was flawless and once patched I didn't find any major bugs. Story is six missions that will leave you wishing for more, but it lasts longer than Titanfall's "single player" campaign. I just beat the mod and can't say enough good things; defiantly check it out.

Install the game, patch 1 and then patch 2. Start it up and enjoy what amounts to a playable extended movie. Intro "training Mission" can be a little slow for those who know Freespace 2 controls but they added new features so it's good to figure them out in the beginning; later things get very intense.

Great post, Thalinor! This game made me feel like i was really flying a fracking Viper! I am eagerly awaiting the next release, subtitled "End of Line".

I'd just like to clairfy, this is actually a stand-alone total conversion, using the FSO engine. You do NOT have to own FreeSpace 2 to legally download and play this game.

What is this OpenAl it says it needs and where do I find one?

OpenAL has something to with sound. I thought the fsoinstaller should take care of it, but sometimes people still have issues with it. Are you getting a specific error message or something? Hopefully some of the HLP people who know more of this tech stuff will see this soon and reply, but if not, you can post in http://www.hard-light.net/forums/index.php?board=237.0. You might even search "openAL" in that thread.

Thanks for the info, I do own Freespace 2, just not on steam. Had no idea Diaspora worked without Freespace 2. Great info. It was an amazing few hours of gameplay, and if people can play w/o freespace it should be a no brainer, download Diasporia and play it. Thank you.

That being said, you may want to look up OpenAL Soft as it is more up to date. Only difference is you have to build it yourself iirc.

Diaspora is a stand-alone game, not a mod. (and I like to avoid even "total conversion" since it still implies mod) It does not require FS2 or FS Open. It's one of the things we've had issues with getting accross since release.

It installed no problem second time around. Looks great, now I just gotta go and get a new stick. Mine shorted I think. :(
