I'd just like to clairfy, this is actually a stand-alone total conversion, using the FSO engine. You do NOT have to own FreeSpace 2 to legally download and play this game.

Thanks for the info, I do own Freespace 2, just not on steam. Had no idea Diaspora worked without Freespace 2. Great info. It was an amazing few hours of gameplay, and if people can play w/o freespace it should be a no brainer, download Diasporia and play it. Thank you.
That being said, you may want to look up OpenAL Soft as it is more up to date. Only difference is you have to build it yourself iirc.
