Joystick configuration

I have a thrustmaster joystick/throttle, the joystick part is fine. i can control ship movement and fire weapons as normal, however when i try to bind the throttle stick to thrust or any of the other buttons on that side of the hardware the game doesn't seem to recognise the inputs.

All inputs register when i use the out of game launcher/Audio/Joystick/calibrate/properties tool.

Am i missing something? is there a way to bind more controls to the throttle stick and extra buttons?

Do you have a Warthog or other HOTAS setup? Currently there are limits to how many axes can be recognized by the game. The Source Code Project is working on SDL changes that should allow this to be addressed better by FreeSpace Open in the future. Other people have gotten them to work by merging them into a single virtual joystick, and sometimes creating a new pilot profile. See if these threads help:

thanks for your help, i shall read these posts and see if they help.
If the SCP is working on a solution i may even wait for that.

Good luck! I am not a member of the SCP and don't know what the timeline is for those kinds of changes, so it may still be a ways out. :) I just remember reading about it in the HLP forums.
