Ok....how do i install FSO?

Also,how to configure it etc so that it works. I have installed FSOInstaller, knossos and the game itself over ten times in a single day. I need help

1. Install FS2 and Knossos.
2. Launch Knossos and select your FS2 install folder (Settings -> Knossos -> Data Path).
3. Download & install FSO via Knossos (Explore -> FSO -> Install).

what if i have the the FreeSapce 2 : Interplay 20th Anniversary Edition disc(s) how do i install and get it up and running inorder to install the FS2 upgrade project (FSO based)

(UPDATE) - nvrmnd - winblowz was just being a little b*tch again.... windows finally decided to apply a compatibility patch - on it's own btw - and then told me to restart the setup program. the setup program took forever to run, but when it did finally open =, like 8 copies opened up. that was my fault actually, because when the program would not open, i tried opening it again, repeatedly.... anyways.... i guess once the game is installed, i can point the FSO installer to the c:\games\Freespace2 directory
