It sounds like you're used to the MIDI OST, but the Redbook (music that was originally stored as audio tracks on the CD, back when the game was on a CD :P) is the default for when you start the game the first time. Just go into the sound and music options and uncheck "Use CD Music", or whatever... I can't remember exactly the name of that box, but you'll know it when you see it.
A word to the wise... and you may already know this, but in case you don't... the MIDI tracks that you're used to probably won't sound exactly like they did "back in the day". MIDI is like sheet music that your computer reads and plays back with the soundcard's own synthesizer... to make things more complicated Steam usually sets Dosbox to use OPL3 emulation for these types of games. Unless you actually have an Awe32 soundcard in your computer you certainly won't be able to get the music to sound like in that video. And even if you do, you'll have to find some way to disable DosBox's OPL3 emulation without going into the setup program, which won't open without the original Descent 2 CD...
Complicated.
I guess that I'll have to just use my head to remember the fantastic OST, the MIDI version... that, or keep looking for a midi version on the Internet and download it and listen it in my phone.
Unless you're talking about the playstation version of Descent 1, and in that case... wrong forum :P
@Trixie Jensen -- you might as well still get the midi music to play in-game, it's simple enough to enable it/disable the CD music and it will at least sound close to what you remember. I'm still a big fan of the composer who wrote it.
