Any way to disable the hover/head bob effect?
Seriously, the hover effect is too fast, and I'm getting motion sick. I'm wanting the full retro experience so I'd like to avoid using a source port if possible. All I would like to do is disable the feature in the base game somehow. Any suggestions?

To answer my own question, the bobbing can be slowed to tolerable levels by opening the DOSBOX config and changing the line that says "cycles=auto" to "cycles=50000". Hope this helps someone else out.

Well... if you want the true retro experience you might run into some issues here. The original game engine got one major flaw. Homing missiles are highly affected by CPU speed. So assuming you set the cycles higher for a smoother experience (like 99% of people) your homing missile will be massively more deadly than it is supposed to be. Same goes for the enemies. DXX-Rebirth fixes that issue for you pretty much... Actually running in DXX-Rebirth in 640x480 is closer to vanilla gameplay than actual dosbox due to how big that change in homing can affect the game.

Only true way to play this game with the "true retro experience" as you imply is to run it on the actual hardware.

Ya, for d1 you edit the ship data in the pig file, for d2 you edit ship data in the .ham file. Can use a hex editor, I have the offsets.

Could you please provide us with the offsets?
