dosbox keyboard input freezes

I am having problems with the keyboard input for dosbox. After about 1 minute the keyboard freezes input so whatever was the last key that was depressed when it freezes continues to be depressed; or if no key it just sits there. This happens in game or when just loading the dosbox that came with the game. I have already uninstalled, reinstalled both descent and steam with no luck.
