I just got done playing minerva with a guy named Slayer and nwf. It'd be sort of neat if Valve got together with the d1x authors and actually made it part of the default install.
D1x installs OPL3, but I remember the yamaha GX daughterboards having a much better sound.
The steam release blindsided us in the active Descent community, but we're doing our best to get the latest dxx-rebirth/retro mod version into the official download.
In the mean time, use A Future Pilot's installer: http://www.dxx-rebirth.com/download/dxx/user/afuturepilot/download.php?f=DXX-Rebirth_Setup.exe
The instructions are different on each router, but basically look for "Port Forwarding" or "Games and applications" on your router. Create a new port forwarding rule for 42424. Whatever machine you're playing/hosting a game on, you'll need to enter that as the destination.
Awesome. I hope our Lord and Savior Gaben throws some resources to improving the d1x code. Would be neat to see achievements, other steam centric perks in there.
