Oh, I've always known it to be a reference to the Ramones. Gabba Gabba Hey is part of the lyrics to Pinhead :)

I guess I missed that song. I was watching the movie 'Rock N Roll High School' with the Ramones when I heard it.

It's also in the Simpsons episode when he eats the Merciless Peppers of Quitsilzaka Tanango and Flanders says it, but I'm sure that came out after Descent anyway. Probably the same origin story (Ramones).
