Stencils (+Material)
Hi,
nice work on the MultiChannel Painting.
There are a few things in regards to Stencils that are a bit flaky.

1) When Painting on the Model Surface I would like the Stencil Overlay to be hidden so I can clearly see my model. This is in line what other tools like Mari and Mudbox are doing
EDIT: Ok, I found the setting for that :) Disregard

2) Some way to hide the stencil with one button press, being able to tumble around your model and then bring the overlay back would be nice as well. Since holding down S is for Stencil Modification pressing S should hide/show the stencil. Same as in Mudbox I believe.

3) Maybe that's the way I've been conditioned by Mari but it would be nice if I could drag the Stencil Icon(s) into the Viewport to use that Stencil. Then again double click is perfectly valid.

4) Unrelated to Stencils but it would be nice if we could get same base lambertian shading as the default for models instead of the chrome ball material ..

2. Indeed a single S press sounds good.

4. Good point too, a grey roughness, black metallic and greyish diffuse would be a better starting point.

Just ammending this. I find it a bit overcomplicated how to add Stencils to the Shelf. It is not immediately appearent how to do this since there is no File Browser Icon. Also I would like it if when you hover over the Stencil Thumbnail there would be some fileinformation like resolution and bitdepth included in the information.

One thing I am noticing in general is that since all icons both in shelfs as well Presets are massive there is a lot of scrolling even now where there are barely any presets.
I think all Shelfs and Presets should get Groups/Folders so users can sort things into Subfolders "Metal" , "Skin", "Wood" etc. otherwise after a few assets it is going to be a big big mess.

You can also add stencils by copying your images directly in your C:\Users\...\Documents\Substance Painter\shelf\ folder.
The shelf simply shows what is in this folder. Although I think for now you need to restart SP to refresh the view once the files are copied.

But yes, all of this is overly complicated for now and we will introduce a simple drag&drop form the windows explorer for importing assets at some point.

Right. Thanks for that info. Maybe soemthing like Zbrush Lightbox the which understands Folder Shortcuts. I could add Shortcuts to folders in the Texture Library inside the SP Shelf Folder and navigate through the library this way.
