Also is there an ability to invert images?

You can invert an image by applying a Levels Effect to the layer and clicking the Invert Button.

We don't have an option to convert an image to greyscale.

Ah okay thanks! :)

I got some questions about certain features and if we might expect them in the future or if I missed them just like the level effects invert.

- extracting color channels from images (rgba)
- exporting in dds with dxt options (dxt1, dxt5, dxt5nm etc.)
- applying paint within the uvspace when I'm drawing strokes slightly outside of it in 2D space with a big soft brush

I found some reference to dds export to be added in Painter from an old polycount post but I'm not certain if that was implemented or maybe still in the works

You can do this in Substance Designer, but not in Painter. However, you could create a custom substance effect that does this. We do have the mask ID where you can extract a mask from an color map. But I don' think this is what you mean.

We don't have dds support at this time

We don't have an option for painting outside the 0-1 space. It doesn't continue to the other side.

I will check on these items to see if they are on the road map.

Cheers,

Okay, cool!

On that last one though I think I wrote that a bit weird, sorry bout that.
What I meant was within the 0-1 uv space if you have a large brush and cover a small portion of the brush on a uv face but you dont have the center of the brush within the face it wont draw on the surface

like this http://i.imgur.com/Wg8vabP.png

The red one is what I can't do and the green one represents at what point it will accept a stroke

So I cant use the edge of a soft brush to slightly darken the edge of a surface sort of like a vignette / ambient occlusion

For that issue, have you tried switching the alignment of the brush from tangent to UV or Camera?

I dont quite follow what you mean so I might just be repeating stuff here.. ehm, but basically in 2d space it will only draw when the center of the brush is within a poly face, so if I'm dragging a stroke next to a poly it wont draw at all even if the brush would create this result in photoshop.

meaning its like the brush is disabled outside polyfaces within the 0-1 uv space, this doesn't allow me to use the edge of a brush.

In the brush - Advanced, if you set the alignment to UV, the falloff will work like you want.
