About the Brushes, that's actually how it is supposed to work, the brushes are a set of parameters linked to a specific alpha or particle. If you only want to change the alpha you are using, you should click on the alpha slot of the tool and change it from there.
I believe it is the same behavior as in Photoshop, selecting a new brush will reset the settings to this brush's default values.
We need a way to focus the camera to a point on the mesh. F only zooms to the whole thing, I'd like to see a hotkey to set the camera orbit center.
We currently have no way to display the wireframe of the mesh unless we're using object/face/uv painting and often times we need to see the geometry lines as we're painting since they serve as excellent guidelines.
It's a bit difficult to paint the underside of objects when you can only spin the lights in the Z axis. I realize that we're using a panoramic IBL to light the scene but that inherently knocks out any shadows and also makes illuminating all parts of the mesh sometimes a bit difficult. I've cycled through all available images and flat undersides of my objects are almost too flat to see what the lighting is doing. I think it'd be nice to be able to fully orbit the light or to have the ability to add shadow casting directionals. I really wouldn't care if the background image (which I keep shut off at all times regardless) was tumbling around all weird.
I know we have the projection tool but given that the stencils display poorly, I think a setting is in order for the normal paint brush. When painting a material with image details such as brick or something, it would be nice to have a button to keep the material screen aligned or aligned in world space somehow. Currently painting with any material just ruins it entirely and makes it almost pointless to even attempt that method. Given that the fill layers don't compensate for UV islands like painting does, it's hard to apply materials that are all nicely lined up. This could help with that. Or get the stencils to stop being obscured by the grid :) Did I mention how hard that makes things yet?
A hotkey to invert the current brush color (while painting on a mask or on a single channel only) would help tremendously to speed things up. I realize this won't work well with multiple channels at one time, which is why I think we can limit that to only when using a single channel.
Brush sensitivity options for minimum size and flow are needed.
Oh, and we need a single pixel dot in the middle of our brush circle/reticule/crosshair while painting. Can be kind of hard to stay straight without that.
Again, I don't want to sound like I'm bagging the program as it's probably one of my favorite apps on my system to date. Second only to the asset creation tools and only because they're so necessary. This one, however, is actually fun to use and that goes a long way in keeping up productivity.
