How to mask faces so that they don't get painted
Is there way to select faces, to make it so that they don't get painted on? Or to select faces, and those are the only faces that get painted on? Also, is there a way to hide parts of the mesh? Thanks

use the geometry tool and then you can change the color of the poly's one at a time with the tool panel on the left side of the ui

It seems to paint on a color when I do that, but not a substance.

For the moment, you can just select polygons that will NOT be painted.

To do so:
- switch to quick masking mode with T
- go to the selection tool and select your face
- quit masking (T again)
- select your brush/stencil
- paint
- Clear mask with Y

We know it's still a bit hard/cumbersome to use, we are working on providing a better workflow.

Cool! Is there a way to unselect faces without having to clear the whole mask? Or select multiple faces? I often find myself clicking the wrong polygon, and having to restart. Especially when there are a lot of polygons that need to be selected.

HI,

Region selection is available if you click+drag the mouse in the viewport.

To un-select a selected polygon, you have to change the color of the tool in the tool section from black to white (no shortcut yet :)).
