Run Substance Painter without Steam

I am thinking about purchasing Substance Painter, is it possible to run the software without having to load up steam as well as you would with a game bought with steam?

I'm using this software the same way you are planning to. You can link your steam account to the allegorithmic website account. Next step - you should query cd-key for your product, download license file, download Painter installation file from this website, and finally add key file on the first application startup after it's installation.
