Exporting with Opacity
I'm trying to export a model with a Fill Layer (Leather), and two other Layers (scratches and dirt).
These last two layers have their Opacity Levels set as 74 and 17, Layer type is Normal.

The model looks great in Substance Painter, but when I export the textures - the dirt and scratches have 100% Opacity on the Base Color texture.

So, when exporting, the program doesn't note the opacity levels - just saves everything with 100% Opacity.

How can I get the Opacity Levels right when I export?

Thank you in advance!

- 2nd day using Substance Painter, and it's GREAT!

Hi,

Which program are you trying to use the textures? Are you exporting to a format that supports transparency such as PNG?

Cheers,

Wes

Hi,

I'm exporting as PNG in Substance Painter, and imported them to Blender 3D.
However, it's not a Blender issue - I'm missing something in Substance Painter when exporting.

It combines all layers into the Base Color layer, and doesn't remember the Opacity of the layers, all of them are at 100%.

The materials work great in Blender, but my Dirt texture was pretty transparent in Substance, and when exporting, there was no transparency.

I hope I make sense! :)

Hi,

Can you post a screen shot of the Painter setup? I could be several factors. Are you creating an opacity channel and painting opacity or do you just have transparency in the actual base color?

Cheers,

Wes

Hi,

I only have transparency in the base color of the layers, no opacity channels or masks.
How can I create one?

In the textureSet Settings, you can create an opacity channel and you can use this channel to create transparency.

Cheers,
Wes
