How do I turn symmetry painting off?

I've toggle the symmetry button on and off and the x|x mirror button goes black but it doesn't seem to do anything.

Disabling Symmetry should turn it off. Do you by chance have mirroed UVs? This could give the effect of symmetry mode when painting.

The response was fairly helpful but it does seem a little obvious now that I know how.

I still don't know how to disable Mirroring.
File? Edit? Mode? Window? Viewport? Plugins? Help?
Where is this thing for me to disable?

Excuse me , I turned off the symmetry mirror button, but its still symmetrical do you know by any chance how i disable that ? Cuz i think you know the solution for my specific issue
