Zoom out function

I was using Gentool to have a decent view of everything and now with this update it don't work anymore and it's really annoying to play now. Like everything is super zoomed in and there is no option in the menu for this to unzoom. Could the dev's please just add this little piece of quality to the game. If any else has another option for me, please do.

Well i guess we just have to wait a while for GenTool to get updated for this new patch, EA is telling the community to take the wheel now with this update and make a updated version of this game with all the QoL changes ourselves.

It works with genlauncher, and you even can set it at 600 without the annoying black un-rendered squares aroudn the center of the camera.

This blows! GenTool had my game working at a high res, and now this. It's like they don't want us to play their game without jumping through hoops.

It's not that hard. But you'll have to do it yourself for now. Until someone fixes it.

You need to edit the GameData.ini file, however it is packed into a .big file. Two ways: extract the file or make a new file. For extraction you need special edit software (see moddb).

Make new file:
Google for: "gamedata ini zero hour download". There is one at github. Save the text with notepad into a file called GameData.ini (not GameData.ini.txt!). You can edit the following lines:

CameraPitch = 37.5 ; this is the angle
CameraYaw = 0.0 ; also an angle, but down change
CameraHeight = 232.0 ; default height
MaxCameraHeight = 310.0 ; max zoom out level
MinCameraHeight = 120.0 ; max zoom in level

If you are on high res like me (3440x1440) the MaxCameraHeight I chose is around 1400. The MinCameraHeight you can leave ontouched, however, I would up this a bit to 400, since it can be annoying if you need to zoom out quickly. My standardheight is 900.

CameraHeight = 900.0
MaxCameraHeight = 1400.0
MinCameraHeight = 400.0

Save the file here: C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\Command & Conquer Generals - Zero Hour\Data\INI

Note: with an edited GameData.ini you might not be able to play against others, in that case disable the file and set your desktop in a lower res.

Note: also download the Widescreen for Zero Hour mod on moddb. Does not edit the game, but replaces the menu with high res images. Makes it look much better.

MinCameraHeight = 120.0
CameraAdjustSpeed = 0.5
