Anyone made this work on Windows 11?

Got the bundle but Generals and Zero Hour hangs at the load screen (the mini popup on windows before going into the game). Tried on two different computers and it's the same. Installed GenTools as was suggested, but it did nothing.

Yes you need the genpatcher or just the gentool which is a direct 8.1 dll file.
Windows 11 dousnt have it by default. and Often the Options.ini file is not created properly on the first run.

Installing GenTool http://www.gentool.net/

Download GenTool in the zip format then copy the d3d8.dll file into your install folder (click on gear icon in Steam > Manage... > Browse Local Files)
Download GeneralsZH104MODEXE.zip from here copy the exe file to your install folder. The one from the zip is called "generals.exe", so rename that to "Generals.exe" after backing up the original.

The modded exe file is required for GenTool to work correctly otherwise it won't recognize your game. You should be able to set a widescreen resolution from game options. GenTool can be used for other advanced options.

Also start the game atleast onetime when it dousnt start. then close it with task manager.
You probably need to make the Options.ini file your self.

Needed to modify .ini to make game run 1080p

The game will be stuck on the splashscreen.

To launch the game, go to:

c/users/steamuser/Documents/Command and Conquer Generals Zero Hour Data/

Create a file named (the capitalized 'O' is important):

Open this file then add:

run it windowed when in the main menu press insert to open the gentool menu, then switch the window position option to full.

I just turned on compatibility mode on windows 11 for the .exe file. It worked

Loads find on Win 11 for me, Is Win 11 fully updated? there has been about 3 updates in the past month. My only issue is sometimes while playing I get a serious error crash. I also changed the ini file and put the resolution to 4k

just make sure you got directx 8.1 the dll in the game folder and your fine
if the game crashes at start manually make the Options.ini file
