DirectX 8.1
When I launch the game, it reports the following error, Check that you have DirectX 8.1 or higher and that your graphics card meets the minimum requirements. But I have DirectX12 and the card is a Radeon 580X . How can I fix it?

Delete Dgbhelp.dll from the games install folder.

I cant find this file in any place of my PC, I have the same video card on Windows 11 OS.

dgbhelp.dll is in your games install folder. the error can also be coming from your resolution being too high. has to be a 4:3 ratio or a 16:9 ration like 1920x1080.

Following, @algush were you able to figure it out? I just downloaded the game today to play with family and can't because the same error message. Says "need Direct X 8.1 or higher" I have Dx 12. IDK about graphics card, because I'm no computer wiz, but I reckon a computer purchased in 2022 can handle any graphics from 2001?? haha...

Use GenPatcher, it fixes this problem.

You got the name wrong. It's "dbghelp.dll". If it makes it easier to remember, the "dbg" part stands for "debug".

o no... after 15 years of doing this i got 2 letters mixed up in a reply....
literally only file in there with a name like that getting 2 letters mixed up makes no difference.

confirmed that deleting Dgbhelp.dll solved the issue. Thank you!

Deleted the dbg file, changed resolution, used the genpatcher & I'm still getting the directx 8.1 message. After all that, game still won't run. Any ideas?
