Gameranger

Some friends and i are wanting to play generals online together. However, i cant get gameranger to detect command and conquer generals since it install through steam (i think).

Is there a way to get gameranger to detect generals? I have heard of other players doing it

I think you have to have gameranger installed before using GenPatcher, and then do the gameranger patch fix in it, I did something like that a week ago and gameranger was able to detect zero hour.

I had same problem. You can try to find game manually by Edit>Options>pick "Command and Conquer: Generals - Zero Hour" and find generals.exe. It didn't work for me bcs GameRanger said it is invalid file. But for me worked out this:
1. Run gameranger
2. Run genpatcher
3. Apply all fixes (genpatcher)
And that's it. Genpatcher fixed gameranger when it was running and it finally was able to find my c&c.

[FIXED] To help gameranger regonnize the correct executable, in case where you have used the abandoware or cd version, your windows registry has remembered your old install. All you must do is to copy the steam installation folder in old install location, and set this executable location in gameranger and voilà !

Youre not supposed to use gameranger, youre supposed to use C&C online https://cnc-online.net/en/
