Please help.
Windows 11.
No any related message in Event Manager.
Changing permissions on either:
C:\Users\user\Documents\Command and Conquer Generals Data
C:\Users\user\OneDrive\Documents\Command and Conquer Generals Data
C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\Command and Conquer Generals
won't work...
Reproduces in both Generals and Generals ZH.
Need help.
It relates to using OneDrive somehow.
The game uses two different paths working with save folder:
1. c:\users\$CURRENT_USER\Documents
2. $DOCUMENTS
In my case both paths were different.
What helped:
Login as Administrator to Windows, run the game.
thats weird, i never had such issues. sure it isnt related to mods? as vanilla i can load/save fine without the things you describe.
The replays have the same issue.
1. make sure you dont have an excessive amount of save files in there.
2. make sure the save folder is not set to read only (sometimes can stop it from saving if it is)
3. some mods have the save function disabled.
4. some mods it just randomly decides to hate and wont save.
5. get one drive to completely ignore the games folder as it causes issues with it, (or just disable that rubbish, i always turn off one drive on a fresh reinstall and never let it turn back on it's way more trouble than its worth)
I've had this even in vanilla, so not mod related. Whenever I've loaded up a save, it went right to the highest speed. Might be poor optimalisation, or poorly tailored settings (on my part), that's possible, but it's still a bug in the game engine (when the game allows for that behavior) regardless of mods involvement. Some mods had different issues, like not being able to load at all a save created in that mod a day earlier.
But I'm sorry to hijack and derail TC's topic, I'm not here anymore. :)
