I too am outraged that the positive review rating is as low as 89%.
Goes to show gamers these days have been ruined by mobile and AAAA game studios.

I know what you mean, the game is almost unplayable without any patches. Took me days to get it to work and it still crashes a lot of times..

BUUUUT,

This is the best RTS ever made and EA is too lazy as always to give us a proper remaster. A lot of people myself included are just happy about a steam release, even tho it should get a proper release with a working MP, 144hz support etc.

Im just happy i can play this game without an EA account or origin.

Hopefully we'll get a proper remaster one day.

i used GenLauncher to fix the game, and dont forget to run it on windowed mode, because fullscreen mode with alt+tab causes sage engine games to crash

Generals Zero Hour is the best C&C game ever made in its prime. You should first grab the gen patcher beta which was recently updated to work on steam version. Then inside the gen patcher, grab the extras, especially gen launcher. You may have to use the Vulkan API option inside gen launcher which is needed if you want smooth FPS if running a computer with Nvidia and integrated graphics cards.

The game worked for me no problems from the start. As Wehzy said, best RTS that EA has ever published, that's why people give positive rating.
I have played this game with my friends for hundreds of hours. It gets even better when you try mods such as Shockwave or Contra.
This was an instant buy for me as soon as i saw it.
Hopefully EA find and restart the few remaining brain cells and remaster/remakes it or publish a second iteration of their C&C Generals 2 game they cancelled.

Out of curiosity when you use mods like shockwave and contra and you toggle them on and off or do they fully integrate into the game?

It crashed on me until I ran it as an admin. Looks like it's trying to write a file and failing.

i run it perfectly on my 2080ti etc... havent had to do anything to it, runs out of the box perfectly.
