Yush, i just got launch error about this message after fix DirectX 8.1 issue & now i can't launch the game because of this issue:

Technical Difficulties Error:

You have encountered a serious error. Serious errors can be caused by many thinks including viruses, overheated hardware and hardware that does not meet the minimum specifications for the game. I made a guide that fxes this issue for most people. You may have to fiddle with the resolution a bit.

-Only "Enable Compatibility Mode" -fix to me this but, using Windows XP Service 3 -version. :3

Discovered that if I just launch the game from the start menu, it works. It's only when launching from steam library that it crashes.

What do you do if in step 3B) the properties does not have a compatibility tab?

Didn't work for me either. They should have tested these games before going with the cash cow... I've refunded them now as I can't play them. Glad I was able to play them back in the day.

minimizing and alt tab causes the issue. (most likely also other things)
