Kolren's Broken sword
At least for me, it was impossible for me to replicate his sword. The handle was measured at 9.45 inches and I cut the appropriate amount, but it always defaults to 9.42 inches. It would also be nice for a fine tuning mechanism for cutting handles if you have to replicate someones sword.

to all who are confused about this quest there is one thing no one ever thinks to look at, the fuller type. This 100% matters in this quest, the handle being a couple of decimals off does nothing. when cutting the handle there are preset sizes, you cut close enough to one or another it will change to that preset size, if you are sceptical if im right go and cut 16cm handle and a 15.96, along with a 15.94, they will each go to 15.96. i made a sword for him and got it wrong but everything was perfect until i looked at the fuller of the blade.
My big issue is I don't know CMs due to my home country not teaching it so i didn't understand that the sword was half busted. It seems like the quests always quote Cms and KG even though in the options I have it off.
I was curious on what mattered and what didn't.
I went as far as duplicated the Ore quality by overcooking my ore.

Same here, I guess what the game is trying to say is the sword and everything regarding stats is half of what the sword should be, I kept copying the sword that he brought in, but nope. This quest in my honest opinion could be worded better.

Hello,

Thank you for reaching out to us regarding this issue.

You can find the images related to the details of the weapon Kolren needs at the following link:

https://imgur.com/a/Av5SVLP

The important point here is that some parts of the weapon Kolren needs can only be unlocked through specific skills. To add these parts to your design, you need to unlock the "Western Pommels" and "Western Guards" skills.

However, I believe this is a design flaw, and it would be more appropriate for Kolren's requested weapon to consist of the default weapon parts. We will fix this issue in the next update. Thank you for bringing this to our attention.

Other important things to consider when crafting Kolren's weapon are that the weapon's fuller type must match, the weapon must be quenched in clean water, and the hilt must not be covered in any leather.

You can complete the mission by making a weapon similar to the one in the image, but as I mentioned, we will fix the issue of requests being made with parts that have not yet been unlocked.

Thank you again!

Any chance to get the option to take weapons apart at some point please?

Yea I told him to go ♥♥♥♥ himself. I made it pretty much the exact same. But I can't copy the handle lenght exactly. IF I manage to messure exactly 24cm. I always lose a bit of lenght as I cut it. If I give it a little extra you can be sure I don't lose lenght and he is gonna complain about 0.4 cm extra. I think you should either be able to take his sword apart and use his handle or make sawing more reliable. Type in the lenght you want and actually get it, not losing a random lenght each time.
You can fine tune hilt length on the lathe. If you take a narrow tool and push it all the way up to the center of the piece of wood, it cuts the wood there. You can use this to trim tiny bits off the end to get an exact length.

Even with the lathe, I simply can't seem to manage striking a perfect 24 cm for the hilt. It always cuts off at 23,94 cm. Is there something I'm doing wrong?

Also, am I right to assume that it is necessary to use copper for the hilt, and iron for the blade, like the original?

You're never going to get a precise cut in the game as it currently is. You want to cut slightly larger than the minimum or slightly under the maximum for whatever weapon you're making or it's going to be a different weapon type.
The issue I had was Kolren says it’s “almost 90” so I kept making it at 85cm and thinking the handle was off because he said it had to be exactly the same since the handle isn’t broken. The handle is 24cm but I kept cutting it at 23.9 or slightly above 24.

So blade is 90cm (any point should work)
Double Fuller type
Clean water quench
Handle 24cm
