Hello,
There is a weapon in the heavy weapon class that resembles a spear. Could it be possible that you might have confused the weapon you need to make with this one? I mention this because we’ve discovered that some of our players have encountered this confusion. Normally, when crafting a spear, the sharp part of the weapon should be entirely made up of blade parts.
Thank you!
I ended up getting it on a 2nd playthrough, but it seemed a bit off
What I planned on the bench:
Pommel & Guard didn't matter
Handle: 120cm Ebony
Blade: 4 segments of the straight blade + the top middle point (the narrowest one)
Quench: Clear Water
Fuller: Double
I made sure the planning bench specifically said "spear" as I had encountered "heavy weapon" at one point during the planning process
It gave me a Pierce Rate of 101.73
After I poured the mold, hammered out all the pieces (I aim between 95% to 99%), assembled it properly and sharpened it to 100%, I ended up with a Pierce Rate of only 97.22
I'm curious about where the pierce rate decreases between the planning and execution. Does it decrease in how it's hammered or how it's assembled?
Hi,
I've got the sam problem and I always makes sure its the spear and the correct length and the highest I can get it is 51% and he wont accept it. I don't know if its bugged cause I've tried numerous spears (not half spear of heavy weapons) and its still hasn't worked.
Hello, I can try to help.
When you say "the highest I can get is 51%" is that the final quality?
A couple things I could think of. Have you bought the Quenching Barrel from Adwuma in at the Tool Shop yet?
If so, are you quenching it in the Barrel and able to get above 90% on the quench?
Are you able to post a screenshot of the weapons stats screen?

I am basing this off this info above:
A spear Design that should work and give room for quality loss even if not made perfect:
Ore: Iron
Handle Type: River Nut Tree
Fuller Type: Hollow Ground
Quenching Type: Clear Water
Pommel 0
Handle Shape 0 = Max Length
Guard 24
5 pieces of Blade 0
Point 1

In case you don't have the Quenching Barrel, it is required for this Customer.
It is located here:

Then it will show up in the Back working area next to the Water Trough

The pictures above are from before the big patch and i think some things have changed with the calculation, especially with the bonus values.
Best would be for you to show a picture of your finished weapon and the request, so that people can better help you as you maybe overlooking something.
- Start with Emerald Wood (most lightweight) and Khanka Ore (best ore for cutting / piercing). This will be the right combination for 80% of all storyline weapons.
- use the right potions for cutting and piercing, this will give a significant boost.
- sort blade pieces by pierce/cut (whatever your requirement is) and take the best one and make the blade as long as possible for your weapon category. If you need both, look for a good part that has both (the round piece has good values for that, but it needs to be unlocked via Skills menu)
- Experiment with handle length and watch how the values for piercing change
- sort guard and pommel by weight. Start with the least heavy guard and the most heavy pommel. Experiment with others and see how the values change.
- design for every value to be at least 1 higher than needed. So don't go for a design with 60.09 piercing because you won't be able to make your weapon 100%.
- If your design predicts a pierce value of 61, but your end result has a pierce value of like 52, then you either didn't follow your plan or you didn't treat the ore right. The ore must be heated carefully and only slightly over the melting point. Check the book on your desk for melting points.
