Can't run from Idi?

Can someone explain wtf I'm supposed to do here? He just automatically catches me at a certain point and I get a game over.

You need to be faster that's all i guess. I passed him easy for myself. But yeah if you are slow he catch you easy.

What do you mean "slow"? There's no sprint button, so I can't go any faster than the game will let me. I run away for about 5 seconds, and it jumps to a cutscene and game over.

There is a Sprint button, by default it is the same as the dash just hold the button after the dash and voila you run. The tuto outrights tell you to do it in the city so i guess you didin't pay attention.

I am having a similar problem. For me, after you press A to push the barricade out of your way and he jumps out, you are unavoidably caught a second or two later. I found this video of someone doing the same section:

It looks to me like a bug, I don't think we are doing anything wrong. I suggest taking the option to skip the whole sequence that you're given after a few tries. If you already canceled that option, die a few more times and you'll be offered another chance to skip it.

I dunno why you're having trouble. I first-tried it and I'm playing on Nightmare.

Press L1/LB to dash and keep pressing to sprint. Or press it again and again to dash/roll, that works too.
