What does luck do?

Just asking since luck can do many different things in games. I feel like I'm getting more rare/uncommon materials and whatnot with the luck cape equipped, but that could just be a coincidence. There's a different stat for crit rate so I'm assuming it doesn't affect critical hits in this game.

besides with the clown cape. It seems abnormally easy to increase its effect like 10 activation to provide a 1 point. As much as it could be stupid to spam mana action to increase its powers, but you will necessarily use it a lot and having 100 points is done quite naturally.

In any case it seems much easier than for the other capes

The grand majority of games out there do not explain what stats do. And even when they do it's often not even fully explained.

Then these games are bad at explaining things if they don't even bother giving a full description in HELP section or whatever you have.

Here you just have to explore the menus, something ppl don't do at all !!! or wait for the tooltip to pop sometime at the beginning of the game.

To be honest, the tutorial menu here is pretty poorly done (despite most of the menuing being truly excellent). It's just 1 long scroll from top to bottom. They basically copied Xenoblade 3 in this regard and in that game awful doesn't even begin to describe the tutorial browsing experience (there's not nearly as many in Ys X though). There's literally hundreds to scroll down, often making it very hard to find what you're looking for even with a few basic categories to choose from (and where something's placed is often also not very intuitive). The other XC games didn't really have an issue with this, it wasn't perfect in them but it was still manageable and you wouldn't be spending minutes on end to find something scrolling up & down endlessly.

And yes, a lot of games are bad at explaining things. For stats the best way is to just get a description on what it does and what it affects when you highlight it.
