Is this a remaster of a PS2 game?
The graphics look really old.

That's insane. Tears of the Kingdom is a Switch exclusive and looks 100x better.
if you dump a tub of vaseline in your eyes maybe.

The games with Anisotropic Filtering so bad you can watch the ground smooth out and develop detail less than 10m in front of you. Texture detail is also terrible, pop-in is also terrible and unless you're utterly blind, jaggies are noticeable in numerous areas of the game.

Breath of the Wild and Tears of the Kingdom rely on artistic direction to cover up their graphical embarrassments and that isn't a fault of the game, but the hardware and the resolution targets.

When docked, the game still can't hit 1080p and relies on dynamic resolution scaling to hit it's cap of 900p, I can't remember what the lower bar is though.

OK? Both still look way worse than this so whats your point? The why doesnt matter, because it was not the question.

I think that BotW's art style is still good on its own, limitations or not.

I mean most NES games were made with the technical limitations in mind and still managed to look iconic so it can apply to any console (yes, even the PS360).

And to be honest I prefer Zelda to try an art style that does not aim at realism (even the N64 titles and Twilight Princess managed to have some stylized designs for the NPCs and item).

I don't really want Zelda to be photorealistic anyway (it's a fantasy world not ours). I'd keep that for The Elder Scrolls or The Witcher.
