Game crashes on startup
Hey,

This game crashes on startup whenever I try to open it. I've followed the FAQ, ran as admin in different locales (applocale), verified the cache, tried restarting the computer, and using different accounts. I've also tried setting read-only on and off in the folder.

Any idea why this is?

Have you tried allowing the game through your Firewall and disabling your anti-virus software?

Yes, and I made a exception for Common in the Steamapps folder.

Did you run Steam as Administrator?

I have Steam auto-set to run as Admin, yeah. I also tried going to steamapps/common/CSNZ/bin/cstrike_online.exe as admin, and I also tried running it in the Koreal locale with Applocale but to no affect, it still crashes.

Specs:
AMD FX 4100 AM3+
Nvidia 550 Ti
8GB DDR3 RAM
Windows 7 HP, with new updates
(Drivers up to date)

Try running cstrike_online.exe and run Troubleshoot Compatibility. See if that does anything. Other than that, I have no idea. It could be just your computer.

Compatability triggers the Hack Sensor, as far as I am aware, which means that it won't help, as the game won't launch.

I'll keep trying, though - But it's more curiosity as to what the problem is than actually wanting to play the game itself. -

Thanks for trying to help, though. It's appreciated o7

Don't worry about Hack Sensor. Just try it anyway.

It closes the game .exe, as far as I am aware.

(I'll try it again.)

I would say for now, wait for a GM to reply to you. If you don't get a response from one of them in a few days, you should contact Nexon Support. This game is worth your time trust me.

Disabling Aero hasn't worked, and aside from using procmon/procexp I really can't think of another way to fix this.

I'll try waiting.

As said before though, thanks for helping

Hello!

As you already went through a good part of basic & advanced troubleshooting, i guess your best bet is to contact directly our Customer Support, follow this link to learn more:

In the ticket, please be sure to include the following info:
- Details about your PC configuration (Hardware & Software)
- Details concerning the issue (steps to reproduce it if you found any, and a screenshot of the error message if you get any)
- .dmp files contained in your "Bin" folder of the CSN:Z client:
Bin/CrashReport.dmp
Bin/*.log (Error.log, FatalError.log, …)
Bin/HShield/*.log (hshield.log, supdate.log, HSUpChk.log, …)
Bin/BlackCipher/*.log (BlackCall.log, BlackCipher.log, BlackXchg.log, NGClient.log, …)
- A DxDiag report of your system (Press the Windows key + R on your Keyboard and write "dxdiag" (without quotes) in the little window that shows up, and then press Enter.
A new window will appear. Wait for the progress bar in the lower left corner of it to complete loading, then select "Save all informations..." to compile a report file.
Save it and then attach it to your ticket before submitting it.)
- A list of the solutions and procedures that you already tried to get rid of the problem.

In this way you'll speed up the issue addressing process.

Hi,

I'm already a few steps ahead of you there, as I contacted Customer Support last night.

Could just be something to do with my config, though. Not sure if it's on the software or hardware side.

Just a reply for posterity in case anyone else has the same problem; I closed all other programs, including:

NVidia Backend
Skype
Spotify
Google Chrome
+ all other non-essential Windows processes
Set Theme to Basic and installed latest NVidia drivers
I also did a stack trace and traced the crashing error to '3n.mhe' in Bin/HShield folder. Deleting this and letting the autoupdater redownloaded it fixed the problem for me.

Best of luck, and if you have any issues with this fix feel free to PM me and I'll see if I can help you out!
