Multiplayer on DRM free version?

So I just bought the game the humble store and I was looking to play online multiplayer with a friend, but he has the DRM free version, is it possible to play online between versions? Does the DRM free version have online at all? Thanks in advance!

Thanks for purchasing the game.

Yes the DRM free version has online MP and you can play games between both versions. The only features missing from the DRM free version are the Steam specific features such as Leaderboards, Achievements and the Gold Pack DLC content.

Awesome to hear! And thanks to you for making this fun game, I started playing today and beat story mode! Also I hope you guys keep updating the game in the future to optimize it better for lower end machines and maybe provide a more in depth options menu so that I can up the graphics on my not so good pc but disable things that require more power like shadows. Anyway, thanks again!

I'll get in trouble at for bringing up an old thread but is there anything special the DRM free player has to do to get cross version support to work ?

Alright so the Steam version is at 1.22r and the DRM free version is at 1.0 anyway to get the DRM free version updated from the devs end ?
