ENDER MAGNOLIA: Bloom in the Mist

anyone else think the game becomes kinda annoying after some point?
I really liked the game after the crimson forest and until the end of the academy and the arena tower.

So far after that, it's going downhill quite fast.

The map design:

I really didnt liked the water areas, movement feels slow and just not fun. The under water boss was horrible. Don't even let me start with the poison water. I also don't like these super huge map pieces that take forever to clear. It's just tedious.

Enemies: they become more annoying and less fun to engage. There are too many "time wasting enemies". Super slow projectiles, too many airbore enemies that stay out of range. too many bullet hell or AoE bots that will just delay you. The enemies in the laboratory in general and the butterflys in the land of origin are the worst so far.

I'm not talking about difficulty but just about are they fun to engage with in combat.

Movement meachnis:

Even this. Like the wall charge move that lets you pass the thick growth. It's often far away and if you fail you need to go back quite a bit sometimes. The charge jump is not too bad, but fall down again and again. Just like i said in another thread about the wolf move. It feels kinda unorganic.

I even had a boss right before a shortcut now that forced me to make a pretty big detour every time i failed.

All this is no big deal in and of itself. Maybe i just like it a bit more face paced but all these things accumulated to a point where the game starts to wear out it's welcome.

I actually hope it will be over soon. The artstyle and the polish and some parts of the game in general are amazing. But other design choices are just not really my bag.

no? also once you get the counter flying enemies are no a non issue, countering slow projectlies is like a breeze, does a lot of damage and is a huge AoE.

those are more like personal issue than problems with the game to be honest.

Well i specificly said, i don't like it, not that nobody should like it.

And yes sure are slow projectiles easy to parry or avoid. But it delays you. It's like having a person walking slow in front of you. Stuff like this just bothers me.
Is your loadout filled with no range, as their are a lot of homonculi that can easily deal with flying enemies.
also what boss was before a shortcut I don't remember the runback ever being bad.
If You have already reached either the Lab or the Land of origins. You would likely already have all recruitable homunculi.

There are 3 homunculi that can clear every enemy on the map easily. The Beast, the Healer, and the Rifleman.

The Healer is the game changer because You can use her as "a trap" for dangerous enemies. Her gravity also ignores obstacles, making it perfect against most late game's annoying enemies. And all her attacks refill SP very fast (like Yolvan's attacks). She can heal to reserve the healing wards.

The Rifleman's Attuner Art is the proton cannon that blasts through obstacles. All You need is the SP regenerator totem and relics. Refill the SP and use his Attuner Arts. Repeat.

The Beast's freezing attack is the most effective against flying enemies because it ignores defense. The AOE is insane and covers almost 75% of the map. But it requires Parry. Equip cooldown relics if You want to use him.

Like others have said, learn Parry. If You don't like parry, at least learn how to parry projectiles.

Parrying projectiles in Ender Magnolia is a lot easier than in Ender Lilies or any other MV games. You don't need to perform "Perfect Parry" like in most "Souls like" games. I don't like parry systems in those games either.

If You have played rhythm games like Guitar Heroes, You may have noticed that the Parry mechanic in Magnolia is similar.

As long as Lilac's shield bubble or the Beast's body is in contact with any bullet, Parry will trigger. In other words, Parry will trigger if the distance between Lilac and any approaching bullet is only a few pixels (when You press the parry button).

Note that this also applies to any other attacks not just the bullets.

To clear bullet hells, after a successful parry, press the parry button again to parry another bullet. Repeat until the area is clear.

If it's a laser beam that You are parrying, after a successful parry, You can continuously jam the parry button until the attack animation ends. Please don't destroy Your joypad when doing this. Good luck.

I imagine this boss is either the factory boss that spawn minions or the Rifleman homunculus. The Rifleman is the harder of the two, coz he has 3 phases. The factory one can be cheesed with AOE Attuner Arts and SP regen.

my biggest issue with the map was the 2 sections with the portals, the crimson forest and the academy. There were parts near the end where the game just seemed to go on needlessly long and rooms didn't end, but it wasn't a huge deal to me, I just really hated the sections with the portals. The water parts didn't bother me.

There are a couple enemy types that annoyed me for sure, but overall I was happy to see them put up more of a fight after mowing everything down in the first half of the game (compared to Ender Lilies which I think introduces mobs you need to be careful around much sooner). And I'm one of those weirdos who actually enjoys water levels, so I can't relate there.

Yea, maybe i'm missing some good skills. I still could not enter these weird barriers.

I use the axe which has good range and the samurai and fist skill are good as well. Also i have the witch fire balls on max which is nice as well.

But i'm at the Killroy final form and i guess it's the last boss unless you do some questlines, which i kinda don't wanna bother about tbh. :D

EDIT: i just beat him and got ending A. No idea what happend nor do i care. I started to ignore the story half way thru. I'm just happy it's over.

It still was a pretty neat game, but i have no desire to ever touch it again.

No I think the game really spikes in quality once you reach the central stratum. The only latter half area I was not big on was the upper stratum just because it felt kind of rushed.

my holy dislike was shield enemies...... what a dull and annoying enemy i started just spamming ranged to keep them locked in block state and just run past em =/ you should be able to break their shields or stance after X amount of dmg...them turning on a dime to just reassume position as well..

This Tornado move breaks shields but i didnt really wanted to use it because it's not a real fancy move overall.

The fact that most moves have no effect on shield is weird.

Congrats for Ending A. For Ending B, You only need to unlock the barrier and get a special item, but first You need to find the secret character and complete an easy side quest.

The final boss will just be the harder version of the Ending A's final boss.

Just a harder version? How boring :D
The boss wasnt too fun either, so it's no loss for me ;)

basically the boss gets an extra attack and a whole extra phase, but the difficulty spike was staggering, I beat A ending boss first try without any specific loadouts (and all of the gain more of something relics equipped) to spending 2 hours and trying several different loadouts to beat B ending boss.
