What is your favourite Nola weapon type
Personally i like the Axe the best.
When I first got the Scythe upgrade I liked it more than the sword as it had far bigger reach the sword and felt faster so i switched to it. Initially i didn't like the Axe as it felt somewhat slow and not that great, later I was just trying it out and i just felt that it just clicked with me? it felt pretty decently fast and more damage, i feel the sound effects really add to it being a decently fast yet heavy hitting weapon. I like it far more than the slow heavy hitting weapon spirit Gerrod from EL.

It's just that it's such a pity that the Axe's second upgrade is in Declan's estate after you've already done N.7's fight and the third one is literally in the upper stratum which depending on your difficulty is your final 30m-hour of gameplay. I want to use the fully upgraded axe in newgame+ eventually.

I just need to fight Reibolg and then Gilroy to be done and I have not once used the axe. My old EL memories keep telling me that the sword is the best.
Sword for long distance jumping (jump -> 3 hits -> double jump -> 3 hits -> air dash -> 3 hits -> double jump again -> 3 hits)
Scynth for longer meelee range and be able to hit ennemies behind obstacles.

Axe for hitting the bosses if they happen to be in close range.

I am trying this sequence and not getting that second set of double jump.

Apologies, I mean jump -> 3 hits -> air dash -> 3 hits -> double jump -> 3 hits -> air dash again -> 3 hits
It was scythe all the way for me. I've never liked the slow-but-strong weapon type in these games, and between the sword and scythe I really appreciated the better reach of the scythe, being able to hit things behind obstacles, above you, even immediately behind you, it makes life so much easier.

i do prefer faster weapons like the scythe but i felt like the axe was faster than the slow heavy weapon in EL. the axe can also somewhat hit behind you.

All 3 are perfectly usable, but I like the sword for its graceful look. When I saw Nola using it in the first trailer, she really stood out to me as a nice contrast with the Umbral Knight and made me want to know more about the game.
I used Axe most of the time in combination with pressure or auto abilities. Made the game a smooth sail that I really enjoyed. The rifleman - never even touched it once after an initial shot. Hated how long it took.

Exploration : Scythe hand down
Boss fight : Slight preference for scythe but some bosses made me switch to sword or axe for different reasons.

Scythe, I can attack flying enemies from ground. probably would've like Axe too if it's upgrade doesn't come so late.

Scythe for exploration and sword for bosses.

The Scythe is something i used for some annoying bosses like Luiseach as i can stay on the ground and still hit her without jumping a little but i mainly used the axe for all the other bosses and exploration.

in EL i often manly used the umbral knight to fight all the bosses and i felt it was fun for me using the umbral knight to deal with the other knight-like bosses. I did often use gerrod's heavy weapon but i didn't like it too much as it felt too slow and didn't have much of a combo and i just plainly preferred the umbral knight so much more.

so it did become a bit of a surprise when i just felt that the axe clicked with me more than the scythe or sword since i really liked using the umbral knight in EL.

though i did use the scythe occasionally, you can tell the devs put more love into that weapon than the other two as it's clearly intended to be Nola's main weapon. the game's cover image along with the art all have her wielding the scythe rather than the sword.

used scythe all the way once i got it. tried to use sword again after getting its upgrade as its stats showed it to be stronger but the extra range and being able to hit targets higher above with the scythe makes it out shine the sword in combat.

As others have said sword was best for clearing distance for a few collectables. i only used axe once for 1 collectable because i saw that it gave slightly higher height after each swing than the sword and scythe (could be wrong). Axe just felt too slow and the damage didn't feel higher enough to compensate for the slower attacks.

In EL i believe i used the sword primarily and only the heavy mace a few times for collectables as it gave height on each swing.
