Secret rooms with pickable items should have better loot or lore items
I have recently finished the whole game, both endings and I am going to spend a lil more time to 100% the game.
I did enjoy it, but much less than I did with Ender lilies.

There are plenty of things which I didn't like a lot, but in this discussion I wanted to talk specifically about one thing: secret rooms with generic upgrade mats.

Why would I take the time to find a small hidden room for it to give me nothing concrete lore-wise or gameplay-wise?
I would have preferred more, considering that for 100% I will need to grind to buy from market everything I am missing, if hidden/secret zones had either more lote notes or any gear that you are selling on the shop.
It wouldn't even be a bad idea to put few equipment items as pickable loot instead of plain materials, considering that this game has speedrun potential, so adding secret zones which can help you skip going to the shop to buy any equipment sounds much better than how it is right now.

Also too many zones are really big, but have nothing to loot. I understand that not every room requires an item to pick up, but if you make the last big zone of the game full of big but empty maps, it only feels like that it was rushed.

In Ender Lilies I felt that the lore and the storytelling was great, not too vague, not too straightforward, but in Ender Magnolia everything feels tuned down and secret rooms are only few of them worth to find.

I did enjoy the magic academy platforming and the amount of loot and the fact that you needed to search for 6 students to progress, but also felt that you gave lots of exploration skills too early on which made even less impactful to find secret areas and open those who were locked behind a skill.

Despite this, I still enjoyed the game, but if possible, I wouldn't mind reworking few pickable items TO NOT BE MATERIALS and instead be more lore or at least equipment (which you can remove from the shop and put them as loot)
