Last homunculus

I'm in upper stratum now and it feel like the game is coming to an end but I still don't have one companion. Wiki is basically a shell (and on fandom). Did I miss a zone or something? From what I have gathered it's supposedly an alternative to primary attack so it would be strange to place him at the very end.

Do you have Reibolg? The guy with the gun? If not you have to go back into the crystal area at the bottom of the map. Where the chief attuner says he'll have to come back there later.

Yep, it was the guy at the barrier. I thought I would go back there with the plot eventually since it seemed to be a big deal but I guess that's not the case. Thanks for the help.
