Can someone explain baby Lilac.
Maybe I just missed something, but I don't understand why baby Lilac was in the land of origin or how she got there. It's the one part of the story I don't seem to understand. I figured the rest out (I think) but this still confuses me.

I think she was a baby priestess used to absorb blight by the ancients. Basically a biological purifier for blight. Pretty messed up if you ask me.

i think she might've been something like what Lily was originally made for in EL, something just to aid the white priestess (or in this case the frost family) in purifying blight?

Well the ancients made the blight after their land got taken over as a middle finger to the people taking it. The blight is even called "The Ancient's revenge" In the note "The Parish Way I" back in Ender Lillies. So I don't know why they would be fighting against it.
The blight existed even in ancient times from what I remember, they just had very good ways of containing it. Priestess were plentiful back then until most of them got killed in the war. All current priestesses are descendants of them after all.

What we do know is that the blight is amplified by hate.

in EL its mentioned the blight existed even in ancient times, it wasn't created by them i think. the ancients just had great knowledge regarding it and used it to their advantage to create undying knights and unleash power with it via the priestesses.

Full spoilers.

There's a lore note explaining "purifiers", aka artificially created white priestesses (clones) put in a tube and made to absorb the blight.

When Lilia and co discovered her down there they decided to rebel and rescue her, and this kickstarted the events of the game. This is shown from different POVs in most of the flashback scenes.

- House Frost made priestess clones for various purposes (the little blue vial that attuners use to tune homunculi are priestess clones in a culture tube which help them to purify the blight).

- Joran's notes mention he looked inside the Pillar of Purification and didn't like what he saw/didn't know why Abelia would go to such lengths to purify the Blight.

- Lilia says she found Lilac's tube in the blight mass where she was trapped earlier.

= Lilac is a priestess clone meant to be the sacrificial battery for the Pillar and was never meant to be discovered. The container is far larger than a baby which implies she would just grow in there and be a living purifier filter
