Regular parry can be quite useful too, but not as forgiving.
What I do miss is Ulv's charge attack, my favorite attack in the first game. Gone, reduced to ashes.
Regular attacker, cooldown, counter, automated, break, and so on, with the passive ones being fine as is. I just really like the idea of summoning aid to help you in combat, but I am not against how the game does it now, I just want to be using everyone more and I got so many now that I had to bench shackled beast for the time being.
you tend to pick one ability someone has and stick with it. blazing fist was good but its nowhere near as good as glacial fist and rocket punch is just worthless next to yolvans bullets.
I used Rocket Fist the whole game and it's great, it does a crazy amount of damage with a very low cooldown compared to the other abilities.
Timing can get tight, but most bosses, I could kill without roll/dash.
Imagine being able to use both the gun and the drill, you'd just stunlock everything.
These are only some of the reasons why they restricted it to just 1 equipped ability per party member.
Having said that, I think the weapons were more fun and diverse in Lilies. In Magnolia you only get 3 weapons and Scythe is just much better that the other 2. Whereas in Lilies you had 5 weapons: sword, great hammer, hammer, claws and lance, and they were all great and unique. The claws with their charged grab attack that transitioned into an explosion, were insanely fun. The great hammer was slow but literally sent the enemies flying, which was so satisfying. The lance had a lot of range. And so on.
