Regarding difficulty and easy mode
I am on the other side and actually think the game can be made easier. The current demo version is still a bit hard sometime.
I mean, we have people coming for the game for its art style, Mili’s music, etc. Having this section of audiences to be turned away by difficulty seems to be really a pity.
And I really don’t think adding an easy mode hurts the game (as long as the game still have a hard mode). Metroid Dread, one of the best Metroidvania in these days, still have its easy mode (Rookie Mode). Even Celeste has added an assist mode later on. And we all know that a lot of games are praised for “giving player the option to skip hard sections”. These are ways to attract more audiences and won’t hurt the game as long as the game still having a hard mode.

I didn't think the game was too hard, actually it felt a bit easy. With that being said, I actually don't care if there is an easy mode in the game or not, I've never understood why people get so bent out of shape about the topic. I think if the game is accessible to more people, the sales will go up and I'll get to play more games from the developer.

At the end of the day, sales determine whether or not I get to play a sequel.

I do appreciate it when developers add in some achievements for clearing on harder difficulties though, similar to how the resident evil series has handled it. It's a nice way to enjoy a second playthrough or go hardcore on the first run.

Yeah different difficulty options are great but I think there should always be an incentive or reward for playing on higher/max difficulty for the people that enjoy a challenge, RE was a great example of this. You're right about more accessibility = more sales = more games, I was sooo hoping for an ender lilies sequel and I was thrilled when i saw the news.

Yeah I definitely agree. For me I like the first game for its art style and Mili’s OST but I never managed to complete it due to its difficulty. I can feel that the current demo is made way easier compare to the first title, and I also do think that further demanding a “Very Easy Mode” maybe a bit too much (but i still want to present this opinion so this thread). And yes, finishing on hard should definitely have its own reward (e.g. an achievement or NG+-able items).

I am personally a fans of explorations and puzzles, my personal series is Zelda, and my favourite Metroidvania is SoTN and Harmony of Dissonance, so it is very disheartening to see modern Metroidvania games start put soullike difficulty on combat. What’s worse, people are praising games that have a “skip puzzle” or “mark waypoint” feature. I guess that’s the reason why they change the map from the previous grid-based layout to a structured layout with all mechanics marked; although i prefer the original map, i totally understand this change. This seems like an “exploration easy mode”. However, it can be even more disheartening to see some players blaming others for requesting an “combat easy mode” for their “laziness”.

So I will really appreciate if the developer can add more difficulty settings. In an ideal world we could have a Prince Persia style customisation (I heard that already Ender Lilies have one after beating the game? I never beat it so I cannot confirm). But even without that, having an easy mode is already a good start.

There will be dificulty settings in the game. You can see them in the respite window. It says they are not available in ea but will be in a full game. So I dont know why people even debate on that. Options are always good. Not every game needs to be soulslike dificulty wise.

I know that. I hope the current demo is in Normal and there will be an Easy. The reason I post this is that people are claiming that this game (at current stage) is too easy (and even guessing if currently we are at Easy) and I don’t want the developer to increase the difficulty further.

I think this is the normal dificulty. This is one game that I dont want to be insanely hard even tho i love soulslikes. Im here for the atmosphere and the music

I think the bosses are about the same. I died multiple times to each one except for Lito and the mini bosses. As for transversal I would say yes the enemies are much easier they go down within one or two hits depending on ur weapon

the game is much easier in its current form then ender lillies. There is no contact damage and there are some OP abilites you get very easily to make the game almost play itself

Honestly I don’t think “making the game almost play itself” is bad. Like, a lot of people are praising games for having a “skip hard sections”.

The only part I found "unforgiving" hard in the game is a certain bosses (that you fight in a mining cave) third phase. Yea, it can be difficult, and I'd like to see them nerf that bosses health by maybe 5%, (so if you're stuck on a boss, it doesn't take you 5 minutes to get back to the part you need to practice since bosses have always seemed a bit spongy) but the game it's that bad.

Why not just watch the walkthrough then? After all, with even easier difficulty and “skip hard sections” you don’t play the game at all, but just run from side to side.

I don't think anyone is doing that. If a developer wants to make a difficult game then they should. The first game was difficult yeah but not as difficult as other similar games. Them adding a difficulty mode is nice and all. Doesn't mean it still won't be a challenge. Part of the experience is beating the challengez they set. If a player doesn't wanna do that, go watch a lore video.

Na, they should left that boss as is, his difficulty is just right for a normal mode (assuming that's what were playing in the EA).
