At the end of the day, sales determine whether or not I get to play a sequel.
I do appreciate it when developers add in some achievements for clearing on harder difficulties though, similar to how the resident evil series has handled it. It's a nice way to enjoy a second playthrough or go hardcore on the first run.
Yeah I definitely agree. For me I like the first game for its art style and Mili’s OST but I never managed to complete it due to its difficulty. I can feel that the current demo is made way easier compare to the first title, and I also do think that further demanding a “Very Easy Mode” maybe a bit too much (but i still want to present this opinion so this thread). And yes, finishing on hard should definitely have its own reward (e.g. an achievement or NG+-able items).
I am personally a fans of explorations and puzzles, my personal series is Zelda, and my favourite Metroidvania is SoTN and Harmony of Dissonance, so it is very disheartening to see modern Metroidvania games start put soullike difficulty on combat. What’s worse, people are praising games that have a “skip puzzle” or “mark waypoint” feature. I guess that’s the reason why they change the map from the previous grid-based layout to a structured layout with all mechanics marked; although i prefer the original map, i totally understand this change. This seems like an “exploration easy mode”. However, it can be even more disheartening to see some players blaming others for requesting an “combat easy mode” for their “laziness”.
So I will really appreciate if the developer can add more difficulty settings. In an ideal world we could have a Prince Persia style customisation (I heard that already Ender Lilies have one after beating the game? I never beat it so I cannot confirm). But even without that, having an easy mode is already a good start.
I know that. I hope the current demo is in Normal and there will be an Easy. The reason I post this is that people are claiming that this game (at current stage) is too easy (and even guessing if currently we are at Easy) and I don’t want the developer to increase the difficulty further.
Honestly I don’t think “making the game almost play itself” is bad. Like, a lot of people are praising games for having a “skip hard sections”.
Why not just watch the walkthrough then? After all, with even easier difficulty and “skip hard sections” you don’t play the game at all, but just run from side to side.
Na, they should left that boss as is, his difficulty is just right for a normal mode (assuming that's what were playing in the EA).
