I also put the command in as you mentioned with no change. What does that option actually do anyway?
FWIW: AMD R5 3600, 32GB RAM, 8GB NV 2070 Super, Linux Mint 22 (based on Ubuntu 24.04), Kernel 6.8.0-40, plenty of space across multiple SSDs/NVME.
My experience has been that when launched with Proton 8 (any, GE or otherwise), CK gets to a usable state but crashes on save (which fails), while using any build of Proton 9 will crash after a variable amount of time usually no longer than 30 seconds and not long enough to actually be usable.
I thought this was a good idea, so I did that for both v8 proton and v9 proton to compare.
This is what my proton 9 (experimental in this case) looks like as it launches and then crashes:
Now I can't see anything terribly helpful there (and as far as I can tell the "game ID created interface ... /" and "method call count for ..." that it exits out with are common to game exits.
I wont post the full v8 capture, but what's interesting (to me, and it could just be because I don't know any better about proton) is what it has that v9 shows no sign of: Havok library setup. For example, this is in v8 immediately after the 'fossilize/cache' line:
If Havok is supposed to load in v9 and isn't something removed? then it looks to me why it might be crashing for me under v9.
I wonder if someone for who CK does load and run fine on v9 proton posted the same log, what it would look like.
