The modified file is available at https://drive.google.com/file/d/19xtJsYDTaBHEIG9XMFgx12S_93Ye5wxm/view. Just drop it in the /Data folder. (I deliberately did not modify the "invitation" items, but there should never be that many of those.)
What I dont get is a notification/pop-up. It just closes :/
Still thank you for the save feature. With it I can still somehow advance in the game although it is kind of frustrating ^^
Edit:
I have played about 20 hours since I first made this post and have to say that things are a lot better than I first thought. After the beginning of the second Act when the game started crashing regularly things got better. I still have crashes from time to time but less frequently. I still dont get an error message but it is very much playable in my opinion ( save every few minutes it takes only a few seconds). The crashes are always during or after an encounter or at the end of a dungeon during the result screen. I have never crashed in town or while running through the dungeon. Thank you Korelis for creating and sharing a fix and giving me and others the opportunity to finally experience this game in full.
Great solution to a problem, legendary and major props from me..
Thank you for providing the save anywhere script since these developers don't give a ♥♥♥♥.
