It reminds me of one of the GOA shows I can't remember which one where the Father of the NES died during the actual show. The person whom was to announce things walked up the podium then walked back down confusing the crowd and to this day nobody has realized that's why. The death happened literally right then and I'm sure he got it in his ear piece right as he was walking up.
Nintendo didn't show up to anymore shows since which Japanese people take death a lot more seriously then we do until it happens to one of us. To them it's like a family member dying where it takes a long time to overcome the grieving if they do at all. A lot of people at Nintendo have either died or retired.etc and they don't like having 'new blood' in the workforce. It's a Japan culture thing.
In other words something likely happened at the very last minute so they were unable to say or do anything even though they planned too.
Maybe the Dev had his cat die or maybe his grandma just died like what happened to us and he had to rush on over to say his last moments and hopefully not be too late. At that stage minutes count. Hang the stupid show.
Either way unless something extreme like that happened which I forgive then it's rather rude of them to make it look like they are going to give us an update then just go 'blah blah blah' then leave. They can just do that on their own blog not wasting show time.
