Seriously doubt it, probably scaled. It takes over 24,000 hours to walk around the earth. I doubt something like that will ever happen in a game. I do believe Minecraft has the biggest single world and it takes about 8000 hours to walk from one end to another. That's the largest number I could find, but the numbers conflict, it could be less, but not more. Supposedly a Minecraft 'Infinite' world is 8 times earth, but it takes 3 times less to go 'aound' it. I'm going to file this under a Sean Murray exaggerated claim until proven wrong. Just imagine the pc needed to generate such a world, gamers with their 256Gb SSD's and 8Gb of RAM wouldn't be able to play that.
The previous game, No Man's Sky, has planets that were you to walk around, would probably take hundreds, if not thousands of hours to walk all the way around, and there are effectively infinitely generated planets. The game itself is only maybe 20GB size, if even. How does it manage that? Complicated generation methods like algorithmic generation, rather than manually created maps that are stored. Similarly to how Minecraft generates an effectively infinite number of effectively infinite world maps, which break at a certain distance but are still explorable past the breaking generation.

I imagine earth sized, just means it's going to be a generated world, not a crafted one, and in that generated world it will likely have crafted interest points and structures and events and such to fill the space randomly.

My expectation is LNF is going to be like if you play no man's sky, but never get your ship or a jetpack, and you start with primitive tools, and it's fantasy instead of sci fi.

Earth's circumference is about 25k miles. Are you just assuming an average walking pace of 1 mile an hour, or are you basing that on something else?

Since most of the Earth is water you can't walk the circumference. The closest you can come is from the type of South American to Alaska over to Siberia then down to South Africa. Which is about 13k miles.

Based on what we are seeing in NMS Worlds 2, an earth sized map is very achievable. Exactly how that works for game play is TBA.

I would not be surprised at all if dragons have a suborbital hyper speed that can get you to any known point in a matter of minutes.

If the game map isn't at least the size of earth, then there will be screams of "Murray lied again" for years.

"...not be surprised at all if dragons have a suborbital hyper speed..."

I'll bet it will be exactly like NMS, where the higher you fly, faster you go.

But still, as far as "fast travel" goes, lets say the air is the thinnest at 60,000 feet for max-speed... at the equator, that flight path is 24,978.7 miles...

If dragons get to fly 25,000 miles an hour in the stratosphere, one hour to circumnavigate LNF world... that would be plenty fast.

Maybe it would require specially acquired levels of "Dragon-Uppers" getting dragons too first, be able to get to that 60,000 feet in a reasonable time and once there, that will be the only time you can feed them the "Special" dragon-uppers. Any lower altitude will burn their wings off.

If it has less bugs than NMS, i will be happy. within 12 years this game will be amazing.

The width of Earth, the depth of a single toilet paper sheet. Like NMS.

my toilet paer is very deep though. very advanced...
I like NMS, if only they got rid of the insane amount of bugs...

Races start areas will be separated by 1000's of RT walk distance...So will be awhile before you see other players starting on opposite side of planet/earth.

I think they figured out it was too big to program so they are back porting what they have done to NMS to keep that base happy and will just add to it. While we won't have 1:1 ratio planets I think a time will come when NMS has much larger worlds to explore as they wrap up 5+ years of progress.

Sadly doing huge games right now is too risky with high inflation/wars and rumors of wars.etc. This won't make sense if all you do is play games and not see what's going on other then your friends talk crap or one sided news talk crap. You have to have the big picture to grasp what's really going on and globally speaking humanity has never been in such a bad place at once before.

CSPAN is a good start since they just drop a microphone in and not say anything letting the meetings do the talking but is longer.

In Europe you can now be arrested for 'thought crime' essentially without any kind of due process and believe me people are pissed off royal.

You're missing the basic point of games/entertainment in the first place... a moment, some time for respite from all that, where you can break away for a few hours from all those things [and more] that are stressors in the world we live in... no "guilty pleasure" here.

We don't even have an alpha yet let alone talking about sizes.

You don't pay attention then. It's sick everywhere right now hell even here in the US things are not that good due to decades of corruption and it's being found out if you go to the correct sources (Not mainstream news) that liars and bribed judges are all facing lengthy jail times and are running scared but that doesn't even begin to cover it.

But outside of corrupt politicians being caught a lot of countries are being blown up by civil war or shot up with people dead and/or homes lost where there is no reset button unlike the video games you are all sucked into. No free respawns or cheat codes here baby!

The point is the economy is so f'ed up right now that people can barely pay rent when a 1 bedroom apartment now costs 2500$ a month which used to be a mansion to rent just 10-15 years ago. Yeah people WILL Priorities food and rent over a random video game at least those that have their heads screwed on straight and want what's best out of life.

You doper smokers however can do what you want but you WILL pay the consequences for that as well. You can't change physics.

When a neighborhood got blown up in Iran a world news reporter followed a boy and his older brother coming home from school only to find NO MORE HOME. They were in shock kept walking around then cried on the street where there home was. Walked around and cried some more hoping to wake up from the nightmare only to find the entire neighborhood the same conditions. His friends houses were all blown to smithereens.

They looked absolutely devastated reaching the bottom of the barrel of their lives and THAT'S the definition of being f'ed up which is the short version of the events they faced.

yet here society is that are playing games that glorify doing that not having to face what it's really like to hurt someone which probably is a reason a lot of big companies are delaying games as some of their player bases are suffering this ♥♥♥♥ on a near daily or weekly basis.

If they had any video game consoles at their houses they were all blown up and that would be the least of his concerns when his family was buried somewhere in the mess they once called home sweet home.

I really hope those two don't grow up to be hateful monsters and instead work to make things right as war can make you go absolutely nuts making you as bad if not worse then those that destroyed you.

Are you 12 years old and having a crisis about the world? It has always been ♥♥♥♥, it's not ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ than ever, it's the same level of ♥♥♥♥ that we seen before.

This doesn't make people stop doing what they do, they still work, still have hobbies, the world doesn't stop because it's ♥♥♥♥, it never stopped and never will until a nuke drops.
