I agree with your recommendations about the world sort of opening up as you explore it like Valheim and I also like your ideas about having truly rewarding finds like recipes and items.
i think it is much more likely than not, that crossplay will be available, NMS has some of, if not the best crossplay support in the industry, period. everyone can play across platforms, it is available on xbox, playstation, steam and GOG. i think the only exception might be the switch, it is available for switch, but i think without crossplay, i could be wrong on that though.
it even has full VR support, with crossplay between VR and flatscreen players.
they certainly havent announced anything, but i think there's a pretty good chance they will continue in this manner.
on your second point, i think NMS has done well in rewarding exploration, and offering a wide variety of upgrades, loot, ships, lore etc to find in your travels. so i think they're likely to be pretty good on that too. and considering the support NMS has received i think they are also likely to continue to add content to be found, long after release.
