[Issue] Black screen after beating last stage Oda campaign
I wanted to ask if anyone else was getting a black screen crash after beating the last stage of the Oda campaign.
I play the stage normally (I'm using Mitsuhide and Gracia) until the end when I trigger and fullfil the requirement for the Mitsuhide objective of beating Nobunaga with a musou attack and when the screen fades to black (I assume for a cutscene) it just stay black and no sound whatsoever plays. I tried twice and both time it happened the same way.
The rest of the game up to that point behaved normally.

Specs for reference:
i5 6500, 8gb ddr4, rx 470 8 gb, windows 10 pro, xbox 360 controller.

EDIT: I forgot to say that I tried to validate the game files and all successfully validated. The second attempt and black screen happened right after so no change.

I tried for a third time after reinstalling the game but same issue. I noticed that pressing shift + tab to bring up the steam community work fine and task manager doesn't see the game as frozen... I don't know what to think. This time I even beat the stage without triggering and fulfilling Mitsuhide objective to beat Nobunaga with a musou attack just to see if that was the issue but no dice...

Did anyone else get this issue or did you manage to beat the Oda campaign to the end?

I have no answer for why this happens but I can confirm the exact same problem with my game too. I haven't tried the other campaigns yet but I've played through Incident At Honnoji twice now and both times my game also goes totally zzz as soon as the final cutscene should play. Hopefully this gets patched soon.

I don't have the game yet. You can try letting them know on their Discord channel. That's usually a good way to alert them of bugs and glitches.

okay so i tried a few things and they didn't work
- locking fps to 30
- setting refresh rate to 60hz
- turning off steam overlay
- changing CPU affinity in task manager
- windowed mode
- verifying files

i cant think of anything else, someone on a warriors discord mentioned it might be summ to do with codec but they didnt rlly elaborate so

Have you tried setting your monitor's refresh rate to 60hz (assuming you're playing in 60hz to match it)? It worked for me finally

setting my refresh rate to 60hz (and capping the fps to 60 or even 30) doesnt seem to work for me

Oh darn, that's unfortunate cause when I remember I have my monitor on 75hz, I was wondering if that's why it was messing with the cutscene, so I change it to 60hz to match the 60hz in my game.

I doubt it'll help any more but I just set everything on High in the Detailed Setting, played it on windowed mode. But I hope they fix it cause you're pretty much get softlocked from the other campaigns.

since the cutscene runs at 30fps i decided to set my monitor to 60hz and play the game at 30fps but even then, black screen :/

idk i kinda doubt koei will patch this either

Gotcha, but yeah I kinda match everything up to 60hz/fps (sucks the cutscenes are pre-rendered hence its probably just 30fps) for mine to work cause I remember I used to have similar issues like that with another game (can’t remember) before.

Saw someone on discord brought it up, so they might look into it tbh!

Had the same problem. Ran the mission three times, black screened all of them. Turning on Movie Playback in Dojo>Settings>Graphics fixed it. (144hz monitor, playing windowed @ 60fps, so I don't think any refresh rate or frame rate issues are causing this)

I tried running the mission again with movie playback off from the graphics options (it was on the previous three attempts) but no luck. Still black screen.

same issue here still, really not sure what to do about it
YamiKuribō May 18, 2024 @ 12:03pm
I got a freeze much earlier during the narrator's tale in Retreat from Kanegasaki (Oda).

Since previous Musou ports had specific graphical errors if you play at high Hz, I set it to a stable 60 hz before the first launch. However, this is probably what caused the freeze this time... I returned the 144 Hz setting to monitor and have not yet encountered similar problems.

Alas, my friend tried changing the game settings and using different commands, but all efforts were in vain and now he is forever imprisoned in the flames of Honnōji. Please, fix that.

I have this same issue. I played through three times but always a blank screen. I am not sure about others but I notice when I have to force it closed in Task Manager, that it is running really high for my temperature.

Well, overall the port was quite great... just some big issue here. Can we contact Koei directly somehow??
