Hunger/Thirst Mechanics are Too Unforgiving
It makes absolutely no sense for your hunger and thirst to be halfway drained from full only 5 minutes into a raid, especially if you get unlucky enough to spawn in with all of your exfils time locked. In this case if an AI 1-shots your stomach from 100 feet away, which seems to happen absurdly frequently for whatever reason, you might as well just pull the pin on a grenade and lay on it so that you at least don't have to spend an extra 8K on food and water on top of the medical costs when you respawn.

Not only is this unrealistic, but it's the exact opposite of fun. Tarkov is already a hardcore game so I don't know why you'd go out of your way to make the mechanics you're emulating even more unforgiving by comparison.

Common thing to be brought up.

It's not meant to be realistic, it's meant to keep you always moving. There are better food and water options the more to level up as well as hideout upgrades that reduce your food and water drain. There is an insane amount of food and water all over the map and that is what you're supposed to be eating/drinking.

If not for the food and water drain being punishing, people would camp a lot more and the organic flow of the game would be affected by that. I'm almost level 40 with a nearly fully upgraded hideout and I very rarely have issues with food and water because I use a refillable water bottle and MREs which feed 120 (iirc) food each.

I've found it to be the exact opposite. You admittedly do have more experience in the game, but if I were planning on camping I'll end up just bringing an extra MRE into the raid, which is more than enough to camp extracts till the final minutes are counted down. Instead of the food and beverage drain keeping me moving, as it does in a game like Tarkov, it instead slows the game to a crawl anytime I have to stop just to eat or drink, which is more frequently than I personally would like.

....That literally makes zero sense. How long are you taking to eat?? How frequently are you eating? You can move/eat/drink ALL at the same time. You only need to eat when you gain the carry weight debuff.

If you honestly think that food is an issue in this game then YOU are doing something wrong.
At base level whilst sprinting all around the map the entire time, i only had to maybe eat a sausage and a candy bar to get out. and maybe a soda or water bottle mid raid. Learn where food spawns, Plan your routes better, Bring meds and stick to cover (The scavs will very often just forget you're there, or take a long while to shoot you if you keep peeking in and out of cover) And PAY ATTENTION TO YOUR MICA, Don't be saying all the extracts are time locked as on EVERY map, There is always between 2-3 extracts unlocked right away at the start of the raid, usually on the opposite side of the map of where you spawned in. Your goal should be to move towards extract and loot/quest along the way, dont force yourself to go to one side and back to another and to another all in one raid.
Literally just died from HUNGER in a raid after maybe 30mins? I drank two lattes and a few bottles of water and then died a little past halfway of my scav raid. FOUND NO FOOD ANYWHERE AND STARTED WITH NONE. Very lame way to end a raid ESPECIALLY WHEN IT'S NOT MY FAULT!!! BOOOOOO. Sucks because I love this game otherwise but this and things disappearing through the ground are no bueno. Not fun!!

It was a scav raid, you can't bring anything with you.

it really can feel like a slap in the face when having bad luck, every time you die having to eat and drink along with healing, just watching your money burn away. you already loose everything on death so i dont get why they got to make it more punishing ontop of that

If you're dying from food or water then you're doing something very wrong.
Game is very punishing, keep it this way. We must be punished.
This was a big complaint with Tarkov as well. They have since made it so once your hunger and thirst go to 0 you don't start losing health right away or as badly but your stamina takes forever to recharge which will get you killed easy so it keeps you on top of the meters still.

He is correct. You should always bring some in. Do scav runs and hit the mall, stock pile. I am currently level 43 and I don't think I have ever had to buy food.

I like the mechanic personally. Kinda sucks when I drink something and it acts like I didn't, or spawn in and my stuff is gone, but those are very very rare instances and sometimes lead to more entertainment. And as others have stated, there is tons of food and drinks all over the place. Just gotta kind of know general areas to look.
