No. Go to the dentist to pull all your teeth out of your mouth and then eat a lemon.
Take a bath with lego bricks instead of water.
Buy a ton of lemons, fill a bathtub and do some diving in the lemonjuice bath with your eyes open.

Just some random ideas that will be less painfull then giving any money to Adobe.

it depends what you do, if your a contractor like myself, or work for others, sure... Hobbyist then no..... also it depends if you have older versions if you have 2023, then, its not worth upgrading either........ Don't listen to people who like to Troll around here......

PS: There is competition now as well, Thankfully.... The program is great sadly the company is not great...

this program is a fun way to paint 3d objects... but there are many other methods out there that are really not that different... I got used to the workflow and had bought plugins, so I decided to pay for it before the price increase. Even then I have not been able to use it a lot... but that was my reason of purchase. to know I could use it in the future when I needed it. not because I needed the program.. but for my sanity.

Personally I would say so. It's sped up my workflow ten fold, but it's probably only a major improvement if you have developed some decent knowledge in texturing already

It's probably worth it if you've never had any experience with material based texturing program. As a long time user though, it's noticeable how the program had barely any updates since the Adobe acquisition occurred. Sadly, there are no real alternatives right now but it's best to pay attention if any just in case.

I've been wondering the same thing recently. I started using blender at the start of this year, and wanted to find a smooth and professional way to start texturing my models, but $200 USD is a hefty price, so I've been using the Ucupaint plugin as an alternative. I honestly couldn't care less if I gave money to adobe, so I'd say it's worth it for sure

bigger question i have is 200 is alot. but if its buy once own free updates for 1 year its worth it. subscription, i will just use my old version before adobe by out. same thing i am doing for zbrush. keep the pixologic version and ditch maxon.

It is a Perpetual License. you buy it once and you get updates till the end of 2024.
After that year you can use the 2024 version further.

Missing Levels and Alpha Behavior below the Micro Height input

so now i cant even use the height mask brush marks to add generators like dirt on them or edgewear they just removed this thing on 10version :|

Software is good, but if you can use an alternative that is not tied to Adobe, you will likely be better off. You have options out there.

I would say an emphatic "yes" if you could still buy Substance Painter 2023, which is the version I thankfully have. Also there are no suspicious terms updates for SP2023, which may or may not give you the fears depending on how much worth you ascribe to Adobe's carefully worded blog posts (and I don't think a blog post has ever been considered legally binding, plus Adobe's wording left a great deal of leeway for themselves in the future while the T&Cs remain worryingly broad).

I would be less positive about SP2024, since this seems to have been a very slow year for the product. The impression I get is that the team needs time to develop truly new features, but Adobe has committed to this monthly/annual model while insisting to the customers that innovation is constant. Even if development is always underway, that doesn't mean that every year's edition is guaranteed to get something new and worthwhile. The price has gone up while the number of new or improved features has not risen commensurately for SP2024.

Still, I haven't found an alternative I like as much so I can't tell you never to buy a permanent license, but if you can wait until SP2025 comes out then I think you'll get a much better deal than purchasers of SP2024 have so far. If SP2024 does get new features before the end of the year, you're guaranteed to get them in SP2025 too (plus whatever arrives for that license). If SP2024 doesn't get new features, you won't have lost anything by waiting and you can feel more certain of something fresh arriving during 2025.

InstaMAT has been proven to be great like Substance Designer and Painter, and its free up to 100k, or you can buy a 2 yr license for all the software, which its cheaper for all the software as well.... I been using it for nearly a year now its been impressive, I used Substance software since day 1..... and moving away due to the nonsense of Adobe.
