Why does this need 1060 at minimum?
This looks like it should be smooth on 10 year old integrated gpu.

Hey dudes,

Yeah the whole minimum specs thing is absolutely not a science... It's just some info that whoever is setting up the Steam page puts down, usually after yelling across the room to the nearest dev "oi, whaddya reckon for the minimum specs eh?"

Usually what happens is we base it off the most potato-like computer we have in the office, which is actually pretty good in our office, that and any recommendations that Unity (engine we're using) may have for us. This generally means that we err on the side of caution and put high specs than you're really going to need. Also, often we're filling out that information before we've really gone deep on optimising the game, so again we are very conservative.

So hopefully we'll be able to bring that down during the early access as we test with more and more people. But for now it will remain stupidly high.

Hope that helps,

Steve.

Loos like its using the The Lost Crown engine.

i wouldnt call Unity "the lost crown engine" even though it is same engine.... hehe, but besides that its prob just hardware they used to test... it will no doubt run on lower, dont worry.

Not only a 1060. It also needs a 6 core CPU.

Cause the devs are super lazy these days.

Oh man, these ones ARE not. You should play dead cells. And to be honest, 1060 3gb inst that much and is very old already, and compared to recomended (1060 6gb), you can see theres room to play with weaker cards.

Oh no!

Anyway.

anything below a 1060 makes no sense for any newer game anymore. time to update or to get a console. js

8 years old 1060 is something completely different than 10 years old apu.

Stupid opinion.

which still makes no difference... there are a lot of games that have a 1060 as minimum which could and even might run on lower end hardware. they just don't officially support it, mostly for the worse perfermance you would get... :conwayshrug:

ah 10 year old apu couldn't run ♥♥♥♥ btw. something like this definitely not, at least not as smooth.

most devs will also or already ended support for anything other than win 10 or 11 (or linux, macos...)

edit: yeah, a 2d game with solitair graphics runs on a toaster anyway. but the requirements for a lot of games still get higher, even for games that will/would run on lower, like i said above.

sorry, forgot the quote, then you replied in between... damn you steam without auto refreshing...

no worries.
This game looks like it could be released in 2010. So it shouldn't need 1060. Don't get me wrong I like the look and will probably play it. But if it needs 1060 it is probably unoptimised. If it actually needs it, it probably wont run on steam deck, where I play most of my games, with 60fps.

it's mostly related to the engine. minimum requirements have nothing to do about optimzation or devs being too lazy to do them. i think you don't know enough about actual game development to see the full picture.

the 1060 3gb is minimum and the 1060 6gb is the maximum needed. so this will definitely run on lower gpu too, but i explained that before.

the steam deck also is a different thing. the requirements have a pc in mind. devs do optimze for the deck sometimes, and i doubt they won't do it for this game. the much lower resolution alone should be nough to run it eventually.

i guess there will be a demo. so we'll see. maybe they even lower the requirements before release. also happened before.

It's probably gonna run on a GTX 660 lol, maybe even lower, and at 4GB instead of 8. The system requirements are most likely exaggerated. My laptop has a GTX 1050 and 8 GB of RAM, and the Lost Crown runs at 60 FPS on the highest preset, with full anti-aliasing activated and at 1080p, even though the minimum system requirements they advertised were higher than that. And judging from how The Rogue Prince of Persia looks, The Lost Crown has more effects and shaders than it. So don't worry, it's probably just provisional, and even if the advertised requirements are high, the game will most likely run below that.

exactly. the game is also not out yet, so the requirements might as well get adjusted until then. either way, nobody knows how it runs on anything yet. ;)

but i know how Dead Cells perfomrs, i have no doubt this runs as well.
