We're right at the beginning of Early Access and we're going to be touching up everything, from the art style to combat, and adding way more content too.
We're going to be doing weekly updates for over a year, so by 1.0 the game will have evolved a lot.
Hope you'll stick with us during Early Access, or come back at 1.0!
I know you guys are good devs and I dont mean to be rude or anything. You probably dont have the freedom to change the art style entirely, although i wish you did. But to me it lacks something, either detail or color or something. The style itself could probably be fine but the face and body of the character/s for eg. is just not good at all. Maybe some shading and help, the lighting seems ok, dead cells did lighting much better. The blocky bland look to the clouds, it lacks depth I think is the problem.
It needs more depth detail and color, death animations in dead cells are satisfying because of the particles and effects of everything breaking apart and collecting together, in this its more of a hand drawn explosion effect with some black spiky shadow effect that also looks awful probably because it lacks depth.
One mechanic I can speak of atm. in terms of combat is the fact that I was watching a streamer jump over enemies dealing damage to them in one fluid motion and this trivialized the combat a lot. I am not too worried about game balance and design too much but even dead cells has issues i would like see resolved.
I will be keeping my eye on it and hope for some serious visual improvements and pray for critical thinking in terms of combat mechanics.
Looking forward to the evolution. I wasn't around during the Dead Cells Early Access but that game is one of the best-feeling platformers I've ever played so I have no doubt this will be buttery smooth by 1.0.
And yes combat and traversal will both be improved further with community feedback during Early Access, that's why we're here!
The Ubisoft connect got me worried to the point of a refund.
At first on forum I heard it would be in 1.0 release, then later said "optional" which mean still in game and knowing Ubisoft, I feel it would lock me out of content if I don't.
THEN on social media around Ubisoft and Ubisoft themselves, they clearly stated it would be needed.
Who to trust, what to trust?
They have learned time and time again by going back and forth with not wanting to release on steam to releasing on steam and trying to force their platform, they know by now that steam is where to make the money, the back and forth with them and steam is hilarious at this point, STEAM is the platform people want to use get it through your head UBI.
You want to make games and make money then do that using steam and F off with your stupidity, funny how I can confidently say that on behalf of all gamers everywhere, UBi fans and haters alike. FOR THE LOVE OF GOD UBI GET IT THROUGH YOUR SKULLS.
Make good games! plain and simple and stuff your launcher where the sun dont shine, this all has nothing to do with the devs though or the game itself in terms of how it will turn out.
I have confidence the devs will make a great game and then most likely be forced by UBI to do some dumb sh!t and make it require online connection to login to play or something. Well news flash, your game will be cracked anyway. ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥.
People will buy the game if its both good by gameplay standards and by principle weather its cracked or not, and thats a fact, your trying to please real people with real standards and morals and thoughts and opinions so F off with the immoral money grabbing practices that people CLEARLY dont like.
UBI has given us great games but they are just being dumb with trying to wrangle people like cattle for their money, which proven doesn't work for them, its an insult more than anything at this point.
That is good news. Maybe they are learning. Hopes and prayers.
What part of optional would make it worthy tho? Optional could also mean you'd miss part of it.
I really hope the art gets revised at some point.
Well, there's another Prince of Persia platformer that has come out a few months ago if you prefer. You don't like the art style, but some people at contrary like it because it's différent from other productions.
Some things will off course be tweaked, I suppose ther will be skins for the main character, but the art syle will stay the same. If it's not your taste, then pass your way, there are sozens of action platformers which could interest you more. ;)
